In 1911 Eynhallow was owned by Thomas Middlemore and his family of Melsetter, Hoy who spent some weeks each summer on Eynhallow with friends, staying in a spacious corrugated tin lodge with internal wood panelling, commonly known as The Grange.  The joiners, who were employed on the Melsetter estate, were no doubt on Eynhallow to make The Grange more inhabitable.
